The Messier objects are a set of 110 astronomical objects catalogued by the French astronomer Charles Messier. Because Messier was interested in finding comets, he created a list of those non-comet objects that appeared comet like in his hunt for them.
This list, which Messier created in collaboration with his assistant Pierre Méchain, is known as the Messier catalogue.
92 of the images were taken with a ZWO SeeStar Telescope during a 2 day marathon at Kelling Heath in March 2025. The remainder were taken on the SeeStar during February (in preparation for the marathon) and also in the summer 2025 for the objects that were not visible at the location during the marathon. Each object was observed visually in the marathon with a 20 inch Dobsonian Telescope whilst the SeeStar was taking the image as a quick record of the observation.
